A little background for you, I was born in New Zealand I came to Australia as a child with my parents and now live on Macleay Island. My mother was a talented oil painter but never allowed herself to take it further. For myself it was later in life I discovered the wonderfully exciting world of painting and never looked back painting became like air "i needed it". 

 

I created Ruby Mai Art which is the name I use to sign my art although my name is actually Gaye. I am self taught and like to try many different mediums. I love working in acrylic but also love the way oils glide over the canvas and blend beautifully. Some of my works are statement pieces which look fabulous on a big wall and are certainly going to be a talking point with guests. These are particularly popular in apartments. In saying that I always paint what I feel so my range is diverse and encompassing many different sizes and price points. I would like to think there is something for everyone to enjoy.

 

I love to paint bold with as much colour as I can. Paintings evoke feelings and even memories in us, and colour has been proven to be therapeutic and uplifting for the soul. So why not fill your life with what makes you feel good.
